Auld lang syne!
At the stroke of midnight on New Year's eve, or very soon after if you are watching a massed firework display, many of us will have sung or participated in the singing of this traditional New Year's eve song.
Not the best version ever! The song traditionally encourages us to remember old friends. I was reminded of it this week when I was privileged to have a brief exchange with a former member of the club, and the original author of this segment of our website, who wrote under the banner of 'Shining Star'. Sometimes it is good to look back and remember and preserve old friendships. Life is of course lived in the present, but from time to time it doesn't hurt to remember.
This remembering has caused me to look back at our club records. Over the past decade I could count at least 50 adults who at sometime in that period have been members but are no longer members, including a number who have passed away in that period. I have been glad to remember them and salute their contribution to making our club what it is today. Â It would be great to welcome some of them back to the fold!
I, for one, have been gladdened to remember old acquaintances, including those who I hope will not be forgotten.
As you move forward into this New Year, do take a moment to pause and remember old acquaintances. And for fun, below are a handful of pictures of faces from the past decade, who are no longer members. How many can you name....
