Club Honoured!

Well, we didn't win, but what an honour to have been nominated and to reach the final 3 in the country!

What am I talking of? The Table Tennis England, Pride of Table Tennis Awards, for which the club was nominated for 2020 Club of the Year! The announcement of the winner was made at the Table Tennis England National Conference on Saturday 5 June.

Sadly the club didn't take the top spot, this went to Goodwin Table Tennis Club. But what a privilege to have been nominated and to reach the final 3.

The nomination was made by Martin Ireland, a Table Tennis England Club Support Officer, with whom we worked closely over the new  building project. You can see the details of his nomination and those for the other two clubs who reached the finals below.

The Pride of Table Tennis Awards formed just a small part of the National Conference, an excellent day of topical presentations and discussion with a very strong emphasis on returning to play following the pandemic, developing the sport, and engaging with the local community. Just a flavour of the conference can be seen in the introduction to the event programme by TTE Chair, Sandra Deaton. You can see this below.

The conference also provided the opportunity to hear about new developments and resources available from TTE and how grass roots table tennis is at the heart of development.

We may not have won the Club of the Year award, but I have no doubt that to our members we are the club of the year, and we will aim to do all we can to justify that name, putting ourselves at the heart of our local community and making table tennis truly a sport for all.

But there was some additional good news! We received a lovely gift hamper from TTE as a result of being nominated. We will be looking to share its contents with all of our members when you come to the hall over the next few days. Tea and biscuits all round!

We hope you enjoy the goodies! There is no better place to enjoy a treat than at Bath Street Marine Table Tennis Club!
