Party time!

Elvis, Sue Young, Santa Claus himself and our very own Keith Hardman were the star turns of a night of glittering cabaret and entertainment for members and guests of the table tennis club at Marine last Friday evening. And there was more! Seven fabulous Christmas hampers, all donated as prizes, were on offer in the grand raffle, and champagne and chocolates were the prize for the numbered entry ticket draw.

The occasion was the table tennis club Christmas Social and a sell-out crowd couldn't have asked for a better evening of entertainment. In the numbered entry ticket draw for the champagne and chocolates, first prize went to the Care Trust, who this season have become sponsors to the table tennis club, providing a new set of shirts for all the club's league players. So, it was great that they were recognised by winning this prize. Santa took a break from his toy making activities to pop in and give out the prizes in the grand raffle, and it seems a few of the guests took the opportunity to sit on his knee and tell him their Christmas wishes!

Not only was there sparkling entertainment, but a few surprises too! Like when Santa popped in. And also, a most unexpected visit from Luciano Pavarotti! Invited especially to dance with Committee Member Jenny Givens to make one of her Christmas dreams come true! Despite the surprise Jenny rose to the occasion putting on a glitzy dance display with her celebrity partner.

Here's a few pictures and videos that tell something of the story of a great evening. And what's more, even though the evening wasn't especially a fundraising evening, £476 was raised for the clubs funds. Hopefully that will cover our electricity bill for December and January!

There were fabulous hampers as prizes in the grand raffle, plus chocolates and champagne in the numbered entry ticket draw - the latter won by club shirt sponsors The Care Trust, and Santa himself popped in to present all of the prizes.

I'll have a blue Christmas without you, Elvis!
And Sue introduced us to an island of dreams,
both great live entertainment. It might be the last we see of live entertainment at Marine for a while!

As for highlights, there were many! The appearance of Luciano Pavarotti and his jive with Jenny Givens was one? And we all know that our very own Keith Hardman likes to do things his own way, so perhaps his 'sing-along' to the Frank Sinatra classic was one too?

And then there were the guests, you! A tremendous audience, enjoying the music, the dancing and each other's company. A great night out!
