Kids Alive!
It's funny you know, that many people think of Bath Street Marine Table Tennis Club as being for the 'more mature' adult! It may be true that the Club's ‘niche’ market is the ‘more mature’ adult, with vibrant daytime sessions of social table tennis almost every weekday morning. However, for a small club, we also have a very exciting and comparatively new junior section. Six juniors aged from 8 – 13 are now regularly meeting on a Monday afternoon after school for the weekly co

Let Them Eat Cake!
A big part of any league table tennis match is the break for refreshments! It can often be a turning point in a match, either rejuvenating a struggling side, or slowing down a side that have started well! In the view of this writer, there is none better at refreshments than Bath Street Marine! One thing you can be assured of when visiting Marine for table tennis, whether that is for a league match or a social occasion, is that you will be made welcome, there will be a good at

Derby Week!
This week has seen six out of eight of the Club’s teams in the Liverpool & District Table Tennis League involved in derby matches, and what matches they have proved to be. Of the remaining two teams, the 1st Team had no match, and the E Team in Division 4 continued their positive start to the season with an 8:2 away victory against Sefton Park C. A good win in quite difficult conditions. The week started with the Division 3 encounter between Dave Noden’s D Team and Brian Crol

Something Old, Something New!
As everyone knows table tennis is a game for people of any age. Look at our club for example; we have at our coaching session Archie Mason, our youngest member, who is only 9 years old, and our oldest member is Don Gibson who celebrated his 85th birthday at the Club this year and is still playing each week (see News Stories 160714). Even though they are at opposite ends of the age scale, both are keen players. Our President Billy Clayton seems to have been playing for an eter

Final Place for Liz
In the blog of 14 September our reporter, Shining Star, reported that Club member Liz Adams had been on holiday on a Cliff Richard cruise. What we didn't know at the time however, was that whilst cruising the Mediterranean on Holland America's MS Oosterdam, Liz entered the table tennis competition. She didn't unfortunately get to play Sir Cliff! But Liz is a very useful left-hander and using all her experience managed to reach the final! However she was a little cut up to be

Clowning Around?
It's been a while since I last wrote, so hopefully I can catch up a bit now. Marine is still thriving on Wednesday mornings and two tables are now operating most weeks. Social table tennis is proving to be so popular that new people are arriving all the time, and sometimes no one knows who they are! it has been suggested that at this rate we will all need to wear a sticker with our names on so other people can identify us! Do remember, that if you introduce a new person do pl

Life's Tough!
Life is tough in Division 3 of the L&DTTL this season for veteran Team Captain Brian Crolley and his men, Mal Kent and Andy Cheung. But this week the team managed their first win of the season; a fine team effort against Bootle YMCA B resulting in a 7:3 win. The team were joined this week by Dave Noden, substituting for Andy, whose D Team also play in Division 3 and have also been finding life tough with 2 draws and a win in their first 3 matches. Perhaps the most encouraging
